Yoga Teacher Training

Yoga Teacher Training is composed of many different areas. Areas include receiving education as to the proper diet, Yoga positions (referred to as asanas), meditation, relaxation techniques, learning about enlightenment and Pranayama. In your training you will come to appreciate why each of these components is significant and why you need to instill these aspects in your students in order to become the best instructor.  Finding the right Bikram yoga program that teaches all of these characteristics is most important.

By definition, Bikram yoga in accordance with Yoga teacher training is a new style of yoga which consists of a total of twenty-six positions also referred to as asanas and pranayamas or breathing exercises.  Adults and children alike may enjoy the benefits of this Yoga style.

One area as alluded to above of which you’ll need to become fully knowledgeable is the use of Asanas when attaining Yoga teacher training.  To give you a little bit of insight:  Asanas are the rudimentary positions assumed in Yoga.  They are the postures used by the beginning student.  It is important that you teach these positions to your student correctly or they may incur an injury or harm themselves.

In your Yoga teacher training you’ll find Asanas are positions where you will either sit stand or balance.  The primary emphasis in regard to using these stances is to open up channels with regard to energy.  The increased energy is meant to cleanse the body and in turn provide you with renewed energy.  When you use an Asana in order to attain strength you must perform it in a firm yet flexible manner.  You may stretch however do not do so in such a way that you place strain on your muscles.

Pranayama as your Yoga teacher training will advise; is the act of controlling your breathing.  The aspect of Pranayama was essentially initiated by the yogis of yesteryear and remains integral to the practice of Yoga today.  Proper breathing techniques are used to cleanse the mind in order that the student may properly meditate.  It is also a forerunner to the asanas, or beginning positions in Yoga, so the student may receive the best advantage from the postures.

Yoga teacher training is essential in advising students about their energy centers also known as Chakras.  Students are shown how to properly release these energy centers in order to bring peace to their lives.
The Bandhas aspect is basically a muscle hold or lock.  They are used to release spiritual forces.  Yoga teacher training will advise as to the proper way to administer muscle locks.  The Mudras are hand positions used to guide energy to the brain.  There are ten mudras that the instructor of Yoga will need to know in order to become proficient in the teaching of the subject.
