Bikram yoga

Lots of different styles of yoga pass in and out of vogue, but Bikram yoga remains hot and hotter.  People are

attracted to Bikram yoga for all the health benefits they feel they gain from experiencing it.  Bikram yoga might not be for everyone, but it is for those looking for a special challenge in their work routine.

Bikram’s Yoga is sometimes known as “Fire Yoga” or “Hot Yoga”.  It was created by Bikram Choudhury in Los Angeles, California.  Bikram was originally trained at the Bishnu Ghosh school in Calcutta, India.  After immigrating to America, he developed Bikram Yoga and copyrighted this style.  He now owns over 500 studios all over the world and many yoga instructors have trained and become certified in this style of yoga.

What makes Bikram Yoga unique is the length of time the different postures are held and that the room where the style is practiced is kept at a temperature of 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
Advocates to the Bikram yoga style believe strongly that the vigorous yoga session at the heightened temperatures sweating which will rid their bodies of toxins.  As the student of Bikram yoga is guided through 26 different positions, they feel the heat promote an easier stretch and more graceful movement.  Many believe that Bikram yoga strengths the body and the mind.

Students of Bikram yoga believe the following physical areas are helped by this style:

Cardiovascular system: It helps with arteriosclerosis, circulation problems, and heart disease.
Digestive system: It helps with such issues as hypoglycemia
Hearing: It helps with such issues as tinnitus
